GIF
A common file type whose acronym comes from Graphics Interchange Format, suited to use on the web and generally small in file size through compression.
GIF files are especially suitable for logos, text and simple images with relatively few colors or gradients. (Note that for web use, GIFs are preferred for solid colors and sharp edges while JPEGS are preferred for complex images, photographs and soft or shadowed edges.)
AN Animated GIF is a suitable format for simple web banners, ads or animation with low resolution film clips.
